In August 2004, the Sin City Chamber of Commerce of Las Vegas was founded by Loretta Holt, Wayne Bridge, and Michael Russell to provide every legal business an opportunity to network, market, and provide support to the local business community.
Holt and Bridge were former employees at the 100 year old Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and discovered a tacit policy of discrimination against adult entertainment companies including brothels, swinger clubs and gentlemen’s clubs.
With the words, “Wouldn’t it be great to have a Chamber where everyone is welcome, think of the fun networking events we could have” Loretta Holt put into motion an idea that would lead to the founding of a new Chamber of Commerce for Las Vegas.
In late 2004, the Chicken Ranch Brothel became the first brothel to join the Sin City Chamber of Commerce. As a Charter Member of the Sin City Chamber or Commerce, the Chicken Ranch Brothel joined 100 other local businesses in creating the foundation for a new chamber experience. Although open to the adult industry and in fact any legal business, 80% of the Sin City Chamber of Commerce Membership consists of Las Vegas’ mainstream businesses.
In September of 2004, the Sin City Chamber of Commerce website which promotes all forms of adult and mainstream entertainment was launched by founder Michael Russell. The Sin City Chamber of Commerce website is the first online presence by a Chamber of Commerce that positively promotes safe, legal prostitution and the various adult entertainment businesses that make Las Vegas, Sin City.
In April 2005, the Sin City Chamber of Commerce held the first ever Sin City Chamber Chicken Ranch Brothel Experience which began as a simple spring BBQ for members and has grown into an annual event with a carnival, a golf tournament, chili cook-off, and car show.
On Friday April 20, 2007, the Sin City Chamber of Commerce held the first ever Chicken Ranch Cup Spring Golf Classic. The event, sponsored by the Chicken Ranch Brothel, Déjà vu Gentlemen’s Club, and Desert Logo, along with 18 hole sponsors was enjoyed by all of the participants. Golfers from all over the country participated in this best ball/shotgun start competition.
SCCC Member Paul Casper of Liberty Realty and his team (Dave Barker, Devon Lee, Brian Dushan) captured first place with a score of 65. Team Runway Gentlemen’s Club (William Hovi, Mike Gillette, Clint Smith, Jeremy) also shot a score of 65, and was awarded second place. Controversy ensued upon announcing the results, as it was discovered that Team Brown Blankfeld Group (Joel Stellzner, Harvy Blankfeld, Scott Rotheiser, Darryl Dempsey) shot a 61 yet failed to calculate their score and sign their card. (A tough lesson learned about signing your score cards!!)
The Executive Staff of the Sin City Chamber of Commerce, having taken all accounts into consideration, declared a three way tie for first and each team had their names engraved upon the cup. The Chicken Ranch Cup, designed by Desert Logo, is a 20 pound ‘loving cup’ imported from Europe that will be proudly displayed at the Leghorn Bar located inside the Chicken Ranch Brothel in Pahrump, NV.
On September 1, 2007, Las Vegas golfers competed for the first ever Sin City Chamber of Commerce Scores Las Vegas Sin City Cup.
Nisha Sadekar, Colin McDougal, CEO of Thunderball, Mike Dobbyn, Guinness World Record Holder for Longest Dive (551 yards), and Paul Casper (2006 SCCC Golf Classic Winner and 2007 SCCC Chicken Ranch Cup Winner) took home first.
Sin City Chamber of Commerce Press Release:
Loretta Holt Wins 2007 NAWBO Women of Distinction Award
SCCC President Honored and Thrilled
Las Vegas, NV – March 23, 2007: The Sin City Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that President Loretta Holt was chosen by the National Association of Women Business Owners Southern Nevada (NAWBO) as the winner of a 2007 Women of Distinction Award in the Retail & Business Services category. The event attend by over 800 of the most prominent business women and men in Nevada was held at the beautiful Luxor Casino Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.
“I am so excited, you have no idea. This is awesome, I am so thrilled to get this award not just for me, but for the Sin City Chamber of Commerce. We have worked so hard for 2 1/2 years to bring a level of credibility to our organization and by getting this award from NAWBO, it really sets us up there. I’d like to thank Brenda Stout and Becky Takeda, they have been so good to us” commented Loretta Holt, President, upon receiving her award.
Loretta helped found the Sin City Chamber of Commerce in 2004 with a goal of providing Mainstream, Adult Entertainment and Gay and Lesbian Businesses an organization that welcomed all with dignity, equality and respect. Her role as President of the Sin City Chamber of Commerce expands with each year, as she has over seen the growth of this 2 1/2 year old chamber to near 500 members. Monthly events, philanthropic endeavors or just listening to the needs of a member, Loretta has distinguished the Sin City Chamber of Commerce from day one and is a proud recipient of NAWBO’s 2007 Women of Distinction Award for Retail & Business Services.
Checking out the Sin City Chamber of Commerce and Treasures . . . The deliciously luxurious layout of Treasures sure makes that point. But an even bigger point was made by the gift bag. The bag was given to all of the approximately 200 attendees at the mixer and contained flyers and advertisements and business cards for many of the member businesses. Going through the bag showed just how thin the line between mainstream and adult can be in Las Vegas. Overwhelmingly the bag contained not porn but the sort of dull business cards and information that you would find at any networking mixer—promotions for computer technicians, real-estate agents, poster-makers, cosmetic surgeons, security and surveillance companies and banks. |
SIN CITY CHAMBER EVENT BAGS – Sin City Chamber Members are treated to a Free Monthly Mixer at which we place the Sin City Chamber “Event Bags.” At each Monthly Mixer we offer members the opportunity to network via our Event Bags. Just stick your cards, brochures, giveaways, and fun things in the Event Bags to let our members know who you are and that you are here to do business.
By including your business information in the bags, you are free to enjoy the scene, mix and meet new friends. At the end of the event, take one home so you have everybody’s contact info and they have yours.
Do the right thing, call each within a week to follow up. That’s true networking, you may be able to do something for them, or you just might get their business.
